An ordinary general meeting of ■’ 0 Standard Eire and Marine L.surai. o Company was held in Dunedin yeste;day ;Mr John Reid in the chair. The report and balance-sheet showed that the net premiums received amounted to £27,800 2s, and interest on investments and transfer fees to £37sßt)s4d. The fire, marine and guarantee losses are shown as £30,430 18s ltd, and commission, salaries, and charges £7748 12s 3d, or a total of £38,179 11s, as against £31,048 lis 4u> the revenue for six months, the loss f< r the half-year being £0531 IDs. T.o balance brought forward from the ''receding half-year (£2490 9s 10d; reduces the amount to the debit of j rolit and loss to £4034 9s 10d, and to meet tin’s the directors suggest that a sum of £3OOO bo transferred from the reserve fund. Mr Charles Reid, manager of the company, tendered his resignation, and
the chairman intimated that changes, which it was believed would be beneficial to the company, were in contemplation. After a warm discussion the report was adopted.
