At a meeting oil the unemployed this morning a letter was read from the men on strike at the Waimakariri railway works, stating that the promises made by the Government were not being fulfilled, either as regards wages or rations. It was resolved to telegraph to the City members, and to petition the Governor, suggesting that a committee of enquiry be appointed. A Bereaved Captain.
