[By Telegraph.] Wanganui, July 29. The annual meeting - of the Jockey Club was held last night. The balance sheet shewed the receipts for the year £3856, expenditure £4166. Over £iooo

was spent on the improvement of the course and stand. The membership is steadily increasing. The spring race meeting has been permanently fixed for the last Friday in October, and a programme was arranged giving 340 sovs for the day. The chief event is a handicap of £1 50. A programme for the Autumn Meeting, on the second Thursday and ' Friday of March, 1881, was also arranged. It was decided by a narrow majority not to continue the thousand pounds cup, but to give £GOO for the chief race and add to the amounts of other races. The autumn programme contains events for £1(530, including a handicap of 250 sovs. on the first day, and a handicap of GOO sovs. on the second day.
