A writ has been served upon a Melbourne newspaper for £SOOO damages, at the instance of Messrs Swallow and Ariel, for libel, in stating that the firm had dismissed several of their employees in connection with the recent elections. [Messrs Swallow and Ariel are biscuit manufacturers, and the journal referred to is probably the “ Argus.”]
