[Reuter’s Agency.j Austrian Resolution versus Turkish Obstinacy. Vienna, July 21. It is announced that the Austrian Government have informed the Porte that it is determined that the decisions of the European Conference recently held at Berlin, and the provisions of the Treaty of Berlin of 1878, so far as they relate to Montenegro, shall be executed in their entirety. The Austrian Go* vernraent further informs the Porte that it will urge the strict execution of the decisions of the Conference and the the Treaty by all concerned. A.Double Defeat. London, July 20. Mr McLaren, who®was appointed by Mr Gladstone to the position of Lord Advocate of Scotland in his Administration, and was rejected for Edinburgh in seeking re-election on his acceptance of office, has contested the vacant scat for Berwick and was again defeated. News has been received from Cabul that, acting under the advice of the Indian Government, a number of the most prominent adherents of Ayoub Khan have consented to accept Abdul Rahman Khan as the new Ameer of Afghanistan. July 22, A durbar was held to-day, at which it was announced that the British Government would recognise the Ameership of Abdul Rahman at Caudahar. Fireworks for China. Pekin, July 22. It is reported that England intends increasing the British ileet in the China seas. This it is believed will be the means of averting war between Russia and China.
