THE LATE MINING ACCIDENT AT KUMARA.

The body of John "Wheclan was found in close proximity at one o’clock last night, hut although every exertion has been used the body has not }'et been got out. The ground is very dangerous, hut the party at work expect the body to be brought to the surface tonight. Cummins, one of the injured men, is now in tire hospital, hut his life is despaired of, as he is sinking rapidly. In inquest on .Denis Wheclan’s body will he commenced at eight o’clock tomorrow morning, and will probably he adjourned until after the funeral. The general opinion is that the Government should appoint an inspector of mines in the district, aud ask him to report on this ease.
