Kangaroo was dangerous until he fell.

King Don fell at the first jump. Yenturo held a strong lead, but fell at the second wall. Momus then took the lead, but baulked at the fence a half a mile from home. Grey Momus passed Matau and joined issue with Hard Times, and after a desperate struggle Grey Momus
was landed the winner by a short head*
Consolation Handicap. Loch Lomond 1 Venture ... ... ... 2 Matau 3 Otawa, Hard times, Black Prince, and Sunbeam also started.
An exciting race took place up the straight between Loch Lomond and Venture, the former winning by a head.
