William O’Connell, was charged with forging and uttering a cheque for £IJ on {ho National Rank. Prisoner was subagent for tlio Government Life Assurance, and recently was doing canvassing at Coromandel, but getting short of money lie presented the cheque- in question at tho bank and was at once informed that it was forged. Ellen McClonghles, whoso name the prisoner forged deposed that he had confessed tho fact to her.
