FOOTBALL.

A vciy enjoyable but rather one-sided game was played on Saturday last, the match being Banks versus Club, ending in a victory for the Club. Soon after 3 p.m. the hall was kicked off, and the game was pretty evenly contested during the first twenty minutes, but during the two last spells the Banks were at a disadvantage. The Club obtained live touch-downs, two of which were secured h}- A. Smith after very good rims. No goal was kicked, however, from either try. Craig, W. Eichbaum, A. Smith, J. S. Smith, McKay, Luckie, Lough, and Sliirtclill: did good service for their respective sides. This is the first time wc believe for the last four or five seasons that the Club lias gained sueli a victory over the Banks. It is a great pity that a paddock tit to play in cannot be found nearer Timaru, so that more members and a greater number of spectators might find their way to the ground. It is astonishing what an effect a few lady spectators have upon those contesting the game of football. The following are the names of the members composing thoteams —Banks : Brett, Craig, Chapman (captain),Luckie, McKay, W. Eichbaum, Mouraut, King, Pinkney, Eattray, and Hawkins. Club : W. King (captain), A. Smith, J. S. Smith, Lough, Mansfield, G. Wood, Campbell, Jackson, Moorhouse, E. Eichbaum, Sbirtcliff, LeCrcn, W. Wood, and Wilson.
