AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly meeting of the above was held to-day. Present.: Messrs F. Irchcr (in the chair), Ihilfour, McKerrow, McFarlauo, Kelland, Stcwart, Wright, Goldie, and Pringle. Correspondence was read from Mr P. H. Bussell, offering private prizes for certain classes of slock, the same to be laid before the Committee appointed to revise programme for the forthcoming show. From Mr Thomas Bruce, president &f the Corn Exchange, Christchurch, enclosing the following resolution : “ That the committee of the Corn Exchange, Christchurch, approve of the suggestion urging the passing of an Act prohibiting the use of sugar in the manufacture of beer the public brewers in this colony, and compelling the use of malted barley in lieu thereof.”
It was resolved to reply that the matter did not come within the scope of the Association’s functions. .From Mr A. Jack, intimating that the medals ordered would be forwarded per July mail.
Mr McXcrrow reported that in the absence of Mr Sealy the Yard Committee would not submit their report to-day, and as it was necessary that yards should be erected as soon as possible, he Suggested that the present meeting be adjourned for a few days. It was resolved that the meeting be adjourned till Saturday, at 2 o’clock.
