In the Legislative Assembly last nighty the Bill providing for payment of members was read a second time on a division of 38 to 24. The measure provides that payment of members shall not be limited to one session. ;

The schooner River Tamar has arrived from Samoa, and brings the following news : Her Majesty’s corvette Dante, 12 guns, has shelled two, of the principal villages, which has incensed the Samoans, who threaten' to storm Samoa City and massacre the whites. The Dante remains to protect the white population.
