Russia Challenged.

London, June 7,

A report has been received that the Chinese have occupied a large portion of Kuldja territory, the concession of which to Russia has for some time past been in dispute.

Settlement of the Afghan Question. In the House of Commons this evening Lord Hartington made a statement regarding the state of affairs in Afghanistan. He said lie hoped the British troops would be able to withdraw from that country in the autumn. Candahar will be created a separate Government without permanent occupation. The Treaty of Gundamuk will be abrogated.
