[Pbb “ Times” Special Wise.:! ' A Maori Farm Burned. Napieb, May 21. A threshing machine, owned by Messrs Welford and Hislop, and six stacks of wheat and oats belonging to Maoris were burned ,at Kohupatika near town to-day. The total damage is about £BOO. The machine was insured for £3OO in the JNew Zealand office. Determined Suicide. Henry Hicholls, an old settler, committed suicide at Waipawa yesterday, by shooting himself with a revolver. He had been suffering from the horrors, and, was discharcd from custody two hours before he killed himself. Missing. Henry McDougald, a settler, went to muster sheep a few days ago, His dogs returned without him, and as he has been tracked to thoTubaskuri river, and it is concluded he is drowned, Te Whiti’s Speech. Hawea, May 21. The native accounts of the Parihaka meeting are conflicting as to Pe Whiti’s meaning. Some say he refers to swamps as the impediments to the roads meeting ; those more in the prophet’s confidence say his word has no reference to the road now being made, the word being only used to signify the paths of the two races.

Letters received.by Archdeacon Edwards from the' Bishop' of Carlisle and the Bishop of Aberdeen, in reply to inqubjbs addressed, regarding Graves, the quondum clergyman lately convicted of forgery, conclusively prove that the testimonials produced by Graves were [forgeries; He was ordained a deacon in the diocese of Carlisle.
