French Aggression. • Cooktown, April 12. —The Eastern and Australian mail steanier Bowen, has /arrived from Singapore with the Torres Straits mail, and brings news that the French Admiral has been instructed to occupy Tonquin in Cochin China. He will levy a duty of 2 per cent on imports, 1 per cent on exports, and 20 per cent per ton on vessels leaving for Manilla. Exhibition Awards. April 12. —Mr Lattcry, the Prothonotary, has been dismissed for insubordination. He has obtained legal opinion that he has been wrongfullydismissed.
