THE BELLRINGERS

TOWN EDITION.

The Lynch Family of Bellringers appeared last evening to a capital house, in the Queen’s Hall. It is sometime since these well known artists were last in Timaru, hut last evening's entertainment proved that they have lost nothing of their popularity, and has indeed only served to confirm it. The selections on the handbells were performed in the most artistic manner, and several times fairly brought down the house. The Company may be congratulated on possessing in Mr Charles Lyndhurst a ventriloquist of considerable ability. His “ Merry Folks ” were remarkably well received last evening. This particular form of ventriloquial illusion is, however, somewhat threadbare by this time, and it seems a pity that accomplished professors of the art do not turn their attention to devise some new illusions. The tiling could easily be done, and it would be certain to be successful, anything being hailed as a relief after the wooden doll business. The comic duet “My Grandfather’s Farmyard” was very successful. The extraordinary make up of the Messrs Lynch being in itself a cause for merriment. Mr Santley’s songs were very well received. The entertainment concluded with an amusing piece of absurdity entitled “ Mr Johnson in want of a Coachman,” in which Messrs Harry Lynch, Willie Lynch, and A. Santlcy appeared. An entire change of programme is announced for this evening.
