[Pee “Times” Special Wike.] Narrow Escape of a Family. Auckland, Marcli 24 A fire at Kyber Pass road destroyed a dwellinghouse occupied by a man named Webb. The family escaped in their nightdresses, but their furniture and clothing ■were burned. The property was insured in the New Zealand office for £IOO. Harbor Works. The Harbor Board yesterday instructed their engineer to select a site and prepare plans for a new and large graving dock of not less than 25ft. on the sill. The Board propose to increase the Port dues in order to be in a position to borrow further on security. They will also ask the Imperial Government to guarantee their loan on condition of the erection of a dock suitable for the ships of the Navy. Native Meeting:. A meeting of Kingites of the Ngatimaniopo Taupo tribes, is proceeding at Otoiohaki, near Dekinte. Important to Bailiffs. Judge Bichmsnd decided yesterday that where a bailiff enters on land to levy execution, and takes the necessary steps to realise, but the parties settle before the sale, the bailiff is entitled to poundage.
