COURSING.

A Committee meeting of the South Canterbury Coursing Club was held at the Eoyal Hotel, Temuka, on Thursday last. _ Present—Dr Hayes, Messrs W. Williamson, T. Hardcastle, B. Thomson, and G-. Bollon (hon. sec.). Mr B. Thomson was voted to the chair. Mr Thomson intimated that it had been agreed to engage one judge for different Clubs, each Club contributing £SO as its share of the expenses. This proposition was approved of. A circular was read from Mr Walker, hou. sec. Canterbury Coursing Club, stating that at a meeting of their Committee it was resolved to hold a coursing meeting as near May 2G as possible, but before definitely fixing the date, he wished the various Clubs to arrange their days of meeting, so that the several events to bo run in May might not clash. A letter from Mr Walker was read on the same subject, stating that the Southland Club had fixed their date of meeting before his circular had reached them, and therefore could not alter it, and suggesting that the South Canterbury Club should make the 11th May as their clay of meeting, so that the Canterbury Club could hole! theirs on the 17th May. It was decided (hat Mr Walker be written to stating that as the South Canterbury Coursing Club had decided some time back to hold a meeting on the 26th May, the club do not see their way to alter dale of meeting, except all expenses and loss from altering arc guaranteed. Should a guarantee be given it was determined to alter the date of meeting to Mav E 5.

it was resolved to write to the Southland Club pointing out that they had selected the same date for their meetingin May as the South Canterbury Club, and that the same judge could not possibly attend both meetings. Two new members were admitted. The Secretary tendered his resignation which was accepted with regret, and Air A. D. Wilson was appointed to the vacant office. This concluded the proceedings.
