The course which is on the property of Mr O’Brian, and only five minutes walk from the township, was in admirable condition. Nearly 100 visitors arrived by train from Timaru, at noou, and the number on the course was speedily augmented by the arrival iu vehicles from all parts, of the lads and lassies of the district. The weather was fine, and the grounds had a gay appearance, tiro surrounding scenery of well-tilled farms, and paddocks decorated with bulky stacks, adding to the picturesque effect. Host Thompson, of the Point Hotel, ministered to the thirst}', and towards evening drove a roaring trade, the result being a few good natured wrestling matches, which only helped to vary the sports. Mr Gaze, the secretary, and the Stewards were most cortcous and obliging, and much of the success of the meeting was duo to their excellent tact and indefatigable exertions to make things enjoyable for everybody.
