DISPUTED OWNERSHIP OF A FLOCK OF SHEEP.

TOWN EDITION.

The dispute respecting the ownership of the ilock of sheep, which have already been the cause of a criminal suit in the Resident Magistrate’s Court, is not yet settled. “ The man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still,” and Mr McLeish has not yet, seemingly, relinquished his claim to the sheep purchased by him of Mr Scott, of Hakateremea. This afternoon, both claimants attempted to drive awa} r the sheep from the paddock in which they had been grazing during the last few days ; and as each party wished to drive the ilock in different directions a scene of some confusion ensued. Ultimately the police were summoned to the scene of the disturbance where they found some thirty men —the employees oil Mr Orr and of Mr -McLeish, respectively—attempting to drive off the sheep in contrary directions and feeling seemed to be running pretty high on the question of ownership. Mr McLeish and two of his men were arrested on the information of Mr Orr for ercating a riot. They will be brought up at the It.M. Court to-morrow morning, when the vexed question of ownership may be expected to onec more crop up.
