[Reuter’s Agency.] Election of Ministers. . Melbourne, March 12. —All the Ministers have been re-elected. The Meat Experiment. Telegrams to hand from London state that Gifford’s refrigerating process has been a brilliant success, and the results highly satisfactory. The meat has proved to be<an excellent substitute for fresh. Change of Governors. It is stated here That Governor Weld has accepted the Governorship of the Straits Settlements, as successor to Sir Wni. Robinson, who has gone to Western Australia. Enterprising Merchants. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s steamship Claud Hamilton has been purchased by Nipper and See, produce merchants, of Sydney and Melbourne. Accident to a Mate. Mr Stephens, mate of the steamer Wakatipu, has been seriousty injured whilst engaged unloading the vessel. Successful Exhibitors. Sydney, March 12. First prizes have been awarded to Kaiapoi and Mosgiel for flannels ; for blankets Mosgiel has obtained second prize, and Kaiapoi third; in tweeds Mosgiel first and Kaiapoi third prize ; in woollen fabrics Mosgiel obtained second prize ; mats, Cook, Wellington; cord rope, Bevan, Waikawa; woolwork, Lawless, of the Thames; counterpanes and tablecloths, Jordan, Dunedin: all of whom obtained third prizes.
