THE OPERA BOUFFE COMPANY
TOWN EDITION.
There was a complete change of programme at the Theatre Royal last night. Messrs Crothcrs, Browning, and Fisher, and Mdlle. Muriell, opening the ball with Offenbach’s popular operetta, “ The Chelsea Pensioner.” This lively little piece abounds in fun and pretty music, and went without a hitch. The second part of the entertainment, devoted to vocal music was most enjoyable and comprised selections by the whole strength of the compan3 r . Mr Browning’s line descriptive song “ The Ship on Fire ” was splendidly rendered and elicited an encore. Mr Crothcrs gave the “Death of Nelson” in first-rate style. Mdlle. Muricll’s songs were a great feature, and were as usual highly successful, while Mr F. W. Fisher was an able exponent of the comic clement. The entertainment concluded with a laughable little piece entitled “ Margery’s Sweetheart,” all the characters in which were well sustained, Mr Fisher’s “Cousin Joe” being an exceptionally good bit of character acting.
