[to the editor.] Sir,— l notice that the authorities in Dunedin and Christchurch arc taking steps to put a stop to the annoyance caused in those places by the tin-kettling of larrikins. Last year several mobs of this class paraded through this town and suburbs, making night hideous with their horrid noise and ribaldry,and not content with disturbing and frightening the inmates of the houses they specially honored, they in several cases wantonly destroyed shrubs and flowers, and other valuable property. Perhaps our police force might see their way to prevent a repetition of the annoyance. A LOVER OF PEACE,
