Butler’s eh m Luna, oyrs, 7st 81b 0 Messrs Mason and Vallance’s eh f Tera, 3yrs, 6st 81b 0 Time —2min. Usee. Betting —2 to 1 nn Camballo, even on York, 4 to I against Dolly Banvon. Dolly led at the start, with Camballo second and York third. This order was maintained till at the back of the course, where York came up and passed Camballo, but was unable to hold the advantage, and fell back. On entering the straight Camballo went up to the marc, and YMrk following suit. At the rails, the three were in a cluster. York miulc another effort, but died away, and Camballo challenged Dolly Banvon, who was put to the whip. A grand race ensued, but Camballo gradually forged ahead and won at the post by a head.

SECOND DAY.—TUESDAY, DEC, 2,

The weather is murkey, and the course is very heavy. The attendance is not very good. The following arc to' day’s events : Handicap Hurdle Eace, of 50 sovs. The second horse to receive 5 sovs from the stakes. Two miles and a distance, over 10 flights of hurdles, 3ft. Gin. high. Mr D. M'Mastcr’s cli g Scamp, aged, Bst 121 b (G. Allen) 1 Mr H. D. Bradley's hr g Milo, Gyrs, Bst 121 b (Clifford). 2 Mr H. Gourley’s ch g Kildare, aged, 9st 71b (Gourley) 3 Mr R. Hunter’s br g Romance, aged, !)st (Honour) 0 Mr P. Butler's ch g Te Whetu, aged, list (Lyford) 0 Mr T. C. Hill’s b g Unknown, aged, 9st (Cotton) 0 Lone Hand and Eversley were scratched. Time . 4 min. 41 secs. Betting—G to Jon Te Whetu, 2to 1 against Kildare, and 3 to 1 against the others.

Scamp was the first to get away, with Milo second, Te Whetu third, and Kildare fourth. The first hurdle was negociated by all excepting Te Whetu, who fell heavily, throwing his rider. Lyford was quickly up, but had lost too much ground. Scamp held his lead to the back of the course, and at the third hurdle was a length ahead of Kildare, who displaced Romance and Milo in turn. At the next hurdle Unknown fell, thus putting him out of it. Passing the stand the order was— Scamp half a length in advance of Kildare, with Kildare third, Milo, close up fourth, and Te Whetu tailing. The two first-named kept together till entering the straight, all hurdles intervening having been jumped splendidly by all. Scamp and Kildare jumped the last together, and Milo, a length behind, followed suit, Eomancc being three lengths behind. Clifford called on the Geraldine - bred horse, who gamely passed Kildare and attempted to close with Scamp, but failed, having to content himself with second honors, three lengths behind. Kildare was a good third, with Romance in close attendance. President’s Handicap, of 70 sovs. One mile and a-half. Messrs Mason and Yallauco’s b g Lara, aged, 7st 21b 1 Mr 11. Ray’s b m Titania, Gyrs, Bst 71b 2 Mr 11. Goodman’s bl h Chancellor, dvrs, Bst 101 b 3 Air J. Chaafc's b h Atlantic, 5 yrs, Gst Gib ' 0 Messrs Mason and Vallance’s br h Camballo, lyrs, Bst 21b 0 Mr Smith’s b m Dolly Banvon, Gyrs, sst 9lb 0 Camballo and Dolly Barwou were scratched. They were dismissed to a fair start, but the held was quickly spread, the order being Chancellor, Lara, Titauia, and Atlantic. Nearing the stand Lara improved his position, and on reaching the back of the course had headed Chancellor, and Titania gave place to Atlantic. Nearing the straight Chancellor, who had been trying to pass Lara, came up to his quarters, and Titania came away from Atlantic, who was beaten. Chancellor struggled to displace Lara, but was unable to do so, the latter winning by' a length. Titania came with a rush at the finish, beating Chancellor for second place by a neck. Ghand Stand Handicap, of 50 sovs. One mile and a quarter. The winner of the President’s Handicap to cany slb extra.
