The G-hilzais tribes continue their hostilities. They have made aditional attacks on the British forces, all proving unsuccessful, St. Petersburg, Nov. 1. The State elections have been carried by the Republicans in the Northern States by an increased majority, Connell has been elected Governor of the State New York, Melbourne, Nov. 7. Mr Berry intends during the recess appointing a Royal Commission to enquire exhaustively into the whole question of protection, with the view of basing a sound protective tariff upon their report.
