MASSACRE BY NEW GUINEA ISLANDERS.
The following particulars of a massacre at Cloudy Bay, New Guinea, are contained in the Australian news wired us from the Bluff, on arrival of the s.s. TararuaCaptain Webb, master of the schooner Pride of Logan, reports to the Brisbane Customs authorities the massacre of eight persons belonging to his vessel at Cloudy Bay, near New Guinea. Three were Europeans, three Chinese, and two Malay women. Capt. Webb states he had been fishing on a reef, and on returning, found the schooner gutted, with the natives trying to heave the vessel ashore. On jumping on board he cut the hawser, and stood out to sea. He returned next day, but saw nothing of the crew, and concluded all were murdered. H.M.S. schooner Spitfire has proceeded to Cloudy Bay.
