TIMARU C.C. At a Committee meeting of the club, held at the Queen’s Hotel yesterday afternoon, two challenges were received, viz., from the Ashley County Club to the Geraldine County Club, and from the Carisbrook Club, Dunedin, to the Timaru Club. The latter was accepted for the Ist December, at Dunedin, but the former could not receive a similar answer as there is no Geraldine County Club. As the Club are due a match at Ashburton, it was resolved to communicate with that Club, and, if possible, arrange one for Wednesday next, the 12th inst. The Secretary was also requested to enter into communication with the Temuka C.C. and Geraldine C.C. to arrange matches with the respective clubs. In regard to the Ashley County Club’s challenge, we are sorry that the Geraldine County, owing to there being no County club in existence, cannot accept, as we are certain that matches of a like nature would do an immense deal of good. It is too late this season to think of organising such an institution, but we think steps ought to be taken during the present season to test the feelings of the players throughout the County, so that it may be unnecessary next season when the County is challenged to give similar WWW*

CHIMO V. WINCHESTER. The following players have been picked to represent the Chirno C.C. in their match with Winchester on Monday next, viz,:—Messrs H. Black, J, G-. Bowie, P. H. Oletnance, W. Holmes, A. Haylock, W. W. King, F. W. Mansfield, W. Priest, P. Pirani, G-. Tyrreel, and G-. P. Wood. Emergency, R. Foster and B. Hibbard. A scratch match will take place tomorrow afternoon at Saltwater Creek. An express will leave G.and T. Young’s at 1.30, to convey the players free of charge.
