THEATRE ROYAL.
THE LADY OF LYONS. The change of programme made by the Comedy and Burlesque Company, to the drama in the performance of last evening, attracted a good stalls and pit audience, but the attendance in the circle was again very meagre. The drama produced was Lytton’s well-known “ Lady of Lyons,” and the Company showed themselves to be much more at home in this line than in either comedy or burlesque. The cast included Miss Ada Lester, in the leading character of Paulin Doschappellcs, and Mr Boothman as the hero (Claude Melnotte). Miss Lester, throughout, acted with her natural grace and ease, thereby thoroughly carrying the audience with her, and Mr Boothman, although hardly taxed in pourtraying the poetic character he appeared in, was faultless in his deportment as Claude. Mr .Joyce was perfection as General Lamas, and acted in his usual studied and careful manner. Mr lusher must be complimented on his “ Beausant.” The other characters wore very ably supported, and the “ Lady of Lyons” must be classified as the Company’s success of the season. To-night Byron’s “ £IOO,OOO a Year, ” and the burlesque of “ The Bride of Abydos” will constitute a progrrmme, which should attract a large house.
