At its meeting-on Friday 27 June 1997 Council resolved that for the 1 998 triennial local government elections it will retain its existing representation. That is: 1 The Council be elected by the electors of five wards 2 The five wards retain the same boundaries as set in 1989 3 The number of members to be elected by the electors of each ward to be as follows: Ohura 2 Taumarunui 5 National Park 2 Waimarino 3 Waiouru 2 Totai membership (excluding Mayor) 14 The Council is satisfied that the existing wards will provide effective representation for communities of interest with the District. 4 The Council has taken into account the area and the rateabie land value of each ward in addition to population in determining equitable representation. CLOSURE OF ROADS TO ORDINARY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1 965, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of the Wanganui Car Club holding special stages 4-6 of Round 3 of the Central Region Rally Championships, the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated hereunder on Saturday 12 July 1997. Special Stage 4 Wanganui River Road from RDC boundary to Pipiriki; and Pipiriki-Raetihi Road 7km towards Raetihi to 100 metres before the new seal; between the hours of 9:45am and 1.45pm. Special Stage 5 T urakina Valley Road (Rangiwaea Road) from SH 49 to RDC boundary; between the hours of 12.30pm and 3.45pm. Special Stage 6 Owhakura Road from Bells Junction to Whangaehu Valley Road; between the hours of 1 .00pm and 3,55pm.
