Ohakune visitor centre funds

Not all councillors were in support of the RDC decision to provide additional funds of $8000 to upgrade the Ohakune Visitor Centre. Of this sum $5,500 has been allocated for internal decoration including the

replacement of carpet and $2,500 for the provision of display screens. Cr Warren Furner did not support the decision, saying the building was well past its 'use by' date. However, Cr Bob Peck

supported the resolution and spoke of the importance of the visitor centre to Ohakune particularly in relation to the recent 'Bounce Back' campaign following two disrupted ski seasons due to volcanic activity.
