Ohakune Hotel sold by tender

The Ohakune Hotel is close to being sold by tender. A spokesman for Auckland agents, Bayleys Real Estate, said a contract was expected to be signed this week, claiming the hotel would retain its local identity although it was scheduled for an upgrade. The tender price and new owner's identity would not be released. Eruptions on Mt Ruapehu two years running and the resulting drop in tourism and the ski trade were blamed for the mortgagee sale.
