English (Media Option) • On Wednesday 1 1 June a reference test was taken by 71 students sitting School Certificate English. The results of this test are used by the National Qualifications Authority in obtaining internally assessed marks. • A group of agricultural science students took part in a field trip to the national field days at Mystery Creek on Thursday 12. The students collected various information for assignments. • Another field trip taken was to the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) .
in Wellington on Friday 13 June. Sixth and Seventh Form students took part in this trip to explore possible career paths and places of future study. • Last Friday the English adviser made his second visit to the college, to develop reading and writing skills within Level 9 and 10 English at all ability levels and to help teachers to adapt strategies to the new curriculum. • A game of netball was played by the lst IV rugby team and the College A netball team on Friday 13 June, at lunch time. The close game ended in a 13-12 win to the boys' lst IV team.
• Senior students receivecresults last week from mid-year examinations held the previous week. Some of these results are assessed for Sixth Form Certificate. Senior reports will be given out soon. • External examination entries for School Certificate and Bursary will be taken before the end of term. The fees for 1997 are: School Certificate, $15 administration fee and $12 per subject, Bursary, $25 administration fee and $28 per subject. Sixth Form Certificate has a $25 entry fee, but because of internal assessment, has no subject fees.
