Bounce Back not just for Taupo

The Bounce Back campaign was not solely focussed on Taupo, the Ruapehu marketing subcommittee believes. The group discussed the campaign which was launched after the Ruapehu eruptions, at their April meeting. They decided that the campaign had been a success in achieving significant profile about the area, and the results from this will be ongoing. Discussion took place as to why some operators in some of the Ruapehu communities had the perception that the campaign was focused on Taupo. The subcommittee believed this perception was

"entirely parochialism" as the TV advertisements provided equal images on both the Ruapehu and Taupo districts. The brochure material was also mai nly focused on the Ruapehu District. They believed that operators were "only focusing on what is not theirs" and that many of them were unaware that the Taupo District Council was an equal partner in this campaign and that there would be no Bounce Back campaign without both Ruapehu and Taupo contributing. The subcommittee reported a significant lift in the profile of this area.
