Corruption correction
• I was pleased to see the write-up ( Ruapehu Bulletin , 1 5 April) given to the case involving JamesCreedmore, after the publishing of Mr Creedmore's earlier letters alleging police corruption. There were, however, two flaws in the report that I consider serious enough to warrant correction. The first relates to the comment that Mr Creedmore was to call two former police officers in regard to police corruption. A number of people have spoken to me, interpreting that they were former police officers as a result of corruption. The correction situation is that both the officers who were to be called by Mr Creedmore are current serving officers and I would refute any suggestion that they would have given evidence in this regard. The second error was in the reporting of the sentence. This report indicated Mr Creedmore was fined $100 for driving with excess breath alcohol which could be interpreted as being a very minor charge. Indeed in the report it was reflected as being the most minor of all charges. This is not the case and the Court treats these charges seriously. Mr Creedmore was actually fined $750 on this charge, the Judge -considering it the most serious of all the charges laid.
