Apology to John McCarthy

• I make offer of amends relative to the recent publication of comments attributed to me in the Ruapehu Bulletin of 18 March 1997 (Peck defends RDC, Pages One and Two). The comments were made by way of background to the editor of the paper, Robert Milne, in a telephone conversation. This backgrounding was given in anticipation of issuing a press release, which, co-incidentally, was published in the Wanganui Chronicle on the same date. The comments you complain of were published innocently by me, and I hereby withdraw them unreservedly. I record and emphasise that my conversation with Mr Milne was not intended for re-publication and I did not agree to or intend that re-publication. Any embarrassment caused to you and your family is most sincerely regretted. Please accept my apologies for the most unfortunate occurrence.

Bob
