Eye on Ruapehu College
CONTRIBUTED FROM THE COLLEGE • David Cooper from the Wanganui Cricket Association was in the school on Friday to give coaching to the first eleven. Skills of batting and bowling were covered and much appreciated by the students. • Students collected for the Multiple Sclerosis appeal on Friday and enjoyed a good response from the Waimarino community. • Work-day is being held on Friday 2 1 March. Students are looking for jobs so that they can raise money for a special project in the College. Any employers who can give a student a job can ring the College, 385-8398, and leave their name and phone number. • Sixth Form Geography students are planning an airplane excursion to observe urban settlements in the Waimarino on 5-6 April. The students
are looking forward to the flight - some of them have not flown before and they will be taking their cameras along as part of their assessed work. • The students are permitted to wear winter uniform if they are cold as they enter the change-over period when either summer or winter uniform is allowed. The finai days for summer uniform will be the week before Easter. Everyone will be expected to be in winter uniform after Easter. • Ruapehu College teachers will attend a union meeting on Friday 21 March while students are at workday. There are a number of important issues in education including bulk-funding that teachers need to discuss and debate. • The Horticulture Department is being upgraded with a new handbasin and washing facilities.
