The Ohingaiti Community Support I Group, together with Ruapehu REAP are I offering a unique opportunity to particiI pate in a course to introduce Maoritanga. I The course, Taha Maori for Beginners, is I an overnight weekend workshop held at I the Otamakapua Whare (formerly the I Kohanga Reo rooms), Ohingaiti. This I course encompasses the history/tikanga of ■ the area, te reo, flax weaving, bone carvI ing, waiata, Maori aerobics and the culI tural significance of the river (bring your I togs!). Wednesday 26 February saw a good turnout and a doubles night had to be played. Dave Herewini and Luana Takitimu were the winners of the night hands down and runners up Boma Rapana and Rangi Callaghan. The high start went to Stephen Wallace with 140. Boma won the high score of 156 and BJ Rapana won the high finish of 91. Wednesday 5 March where the club was split into three groups, seniors, intermediates and juniors and a round robin was played. The winner of the senior section was Greg Windle. Kevin LeNoel was the winner of the intermediates and Danny Foster won the junior section. The high start was a three way win of Greg, Dave and Steve. Luana won the high score of 140 and BJ won the finish of 64. Sharlene LeNoel got her first 180 ever, but lost out on the money. The raffle was won by Colin Cranston.
