'Local Guides' publisher seeks information for Ruapehu/Taupo edition
Following the success of her travel guide to the Wairarapa, author and publisher Kate Wall is working on an edition covering the Ruapehu and Taupo districts. The 31-year-old who has been based in Taupo since December began researching the Ruapehu area last week. Kate says her guides are mainly aimed at New Zealanders looking for weekends and holidays away. "I saw the need for this type of guide while living in Wellington. On hearing I was from the Wairarapa people keen to spend a weekend in the area would ask me to recommend places to stay and things to do. Despite being from the area I really didn't know what information was available and found that most guidebooks cover the whole country but can only include a fraction of the information on each area. I realised how useful it would be to have a regional guide which covered the area in detail". The Taupo/Ruapehu edition will include accommodation from exclusive lodge to campsite, eating and dancing spots, local activities, walks, gardens, golf courses, shops, tour and transport providers. The Wairapapa edition Kate Wall left with the Bulletin is an extremely high-class glossy publication with a wealth of useful information. You can expect to see Kate around the Waimarino gathering information until the end of March. Anyone interested in being included in the*guide is welcome to contact Kate on 07-378-4287.
