Great response for Desert Gala stalls

The promise that Desert Gala 1 997 will be biggest, brightest and best yet is set to be fulfilled with firm applications from more than 70 stall-hold-ers. The variety of stalls looks exciting with glass moulding and blowing, photographic art, crafts of all kinds, clothing, knitwear and preserves from the home industry, crystals and bush jackets. There will also be a small number of commercial displays as well. The 10's competition entries are still open and it is hoped that at least 16 teams will take part in this tournament. Fairground rides and sideshows are be-

ing provided by the biggest company in New Zealand, in addition to several bands to entertain young and old alike. The "Kiddie Disco" looks set to be a success for the very young at heart. To round the attractions out the Queen Elizabeth II Army Memorial Museum will host an activities day with static displays of military vehicles and other memorabilia. Having a wide range of activities planned will ensure that there is something to interest all age groups. Organisers say that with this much to see and do, Desert Gala 1997, Saturday, 8 March, looks set to provide an actionpacked day.
