Ohakune on fire map
From the eruption-puts-Ruapehu-on-the-map file: the Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade features in an international calendar put out in Holland by a rescue equipment manufacturer. Three brigade members are pictured in front of the rescue tender and an engine along with a selection of rescue equip-
ment, while in the background is Mt Ruapehu in full ash eruption. Although the eruption cloud is genuine, the photographer has taken the liberty of superimposing it onto the brigade photo that has the mountain in the background (while the ash cloud is highlighted with sunset colours, the main photogr'aph is taken mid-afternoon!).
