GHW to support Wanganui chopper
Good Health Wanganui 's board has reversed its decision that would have made the Trans Rail Rescue Helicopter Wanganui 's preferred provider of air rescue work and will now promote the use of the Wanganui Aero Work machines. However, the decision as to which service is used still rests with St John Ambulance, based in Palmerston North. Also, it is not clear whether the decision applies to the W aimarino, and no spokesperson from the board or GHW was available yesterday to clarify the matter. In the case of Wanganui, the board decided that "in terms of the first response by air to emergencies, it was appropriate to use the services of Wanganui Aero Work because it was in the best position geographically and in terms of pilot knowledge to respond quickly to emergencies in the district", according to the board. A meeting is to be held with St John Ambulance Palmerston North to discuss the "protocols which would ensure Wanganui Aero Work would be the first choice operator where circumstances made it appropriate".
