Ohakune Garden Club

The December meeting of the Ohakune Garden Club was held at Noeline and Trevor Reynolds house in Raetihi Road. The evening began with a garden walk where members admired the brilliant flowerings of rhododendrons and climbing roses. A short business session followed, then the pot luck dinner and Christmas party . Gifts were exchanged. Invited guests from the Raetihi Garden Club then judged the competitions. The results were: Shrub of Choice: 1st N Reynolds 2nd D Barnes 3rd N Wilde; Flower of Choice: 1 L McQuarrie, 2 L McQuarrie, 3 F Frew; Rose: 1 F Frew, 2 B Kennedy, 3 F Frew; Christmas Decoration: 1 L McQuarrie, 2 F Frew, 3 M Warren The next meeting will be on 28 January at 8pm at the home of Nita and Bruce Wilde. The competitions will be a collection of five perennials and flower and shrub of choice. Ohakune Club members' gardens will be judged by Raetihi Garden Club in midJanuary and the Civic Pride Award for all town gardens, as viewed from the street, were to be judged by W anganui judges Mr and Mrs D Gilbertson and Miss I Gilbertson during the last week of December.
