Brownies turned Guides
Three Brownies took a step up the ladder to Guide level at last week's Christmas break-up. Jodi Haitana, 11, Mary Seifert, 10, and Cassie Wood, 10, were presented with certificates and guide badges by their brownie leaders Judi T od and Estelle Steele. It has been several years since the group has been able to offer Guide training due to a lack of leaders. "However, next year we will have two — Phyllis Wood and Alison Seifert," said Mrs Tod. She said it had been a busy year for Brownies with the girls being able to achieve
quite a lot in terms of their badges and certificates and for those who want to, will now have the chance to go into Guiding. All Brownies received badges, certificate^or awards in recognition of their level of attainment for the year. Activities included first aid, environmental, the study of native flora, camping, other countries and cooking. Flowers and small gifts were presented to Mrs Tod and Mrs Steele in appreciation of their input as leaders. Brownies and Guides will recommence when school returns in 1997.
