One of the more unique teams to take to the road for last weekend's Around The Mountains Relay was the combination of three fathers and sons in one Waiouru-based team. All three fathers are retired from the Army and were also among the first to run the relay in the early 70's. They are joined by their sons who are now also in the armed forces. To make the day even more special, two of the sons were in the original Waiouru Primary School team to run in the race. The team of Bruce and Alan Bailey, Stu and Aaron Couchman, Peter and Craig Sheppard, Tony Hawkins, Garry Ware, Gavin Della-Barea and Greg Ashwood were placed in the middle of the field.
