• Around 25 sticks of gelignite found in bush at the Lakes Road Reserve last week were blown up by the Army's bomb disposal unit. Police sources say the explosives had been there for some time and were very unstable. • A Raetihi man was arrested and taken to Taumarunui overnight for a psychiatric assessment after an incident involving a rifle at a Pitt Street address. • Enquiries are continuing into the attempted burglary of Webb' s Motors in Raetihi on Saturday. Offenders smashed three windows in an attempt to gain entry to the garage. • Ohakune Police assisted Waiouru Police with two passengers reported to be drunk and disorderly on the overnight train on Saturday.
