College DP to visit South Africa

. Merrilyn George, assistant principal at Ruapehu College, has been invited to participate as a team member in a delegation of Australian and New Zealand home economics professionals to visit South Africa in February 1 1997. The delegation, organised by the Citizen Ambassador Programme, will provide opportunities for the promotion of understanding between delegates and the\r counterparts regarding home economics education in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The team will be visiting schools, universities, teacher preparation institutions and will meet with fellow professionals in workshops, seminars and formal meetings to facilitate the exchange of ideas related to promoting education with respect to the well-being of families. The activities are centred mainly around the cities of Johannesburg, Pretoria, SowetO and Capetown. Mrs George said she could, in addition to the professional development, take the opportunity to make contact with family.
