Phone bill cash ads up

Schools in the southern Ruapehu District are to receive more than $70,000 through Telecom customer sponsorship. Grants are: Maungarongo Kura Kaupapa ($292), Ngamatea ($945), Orautoha ($4709), Ohakune ($19,858), Pipiriki ($2477), Raetihi ($19,910), Ruapehu College ($8827), Waiouru Primary School ($13,802). Schools can choose to spend the money on any thing they want. Some are choosing to spend it on information technology while others will use it on general resources, from musical instruments and sports equipment to core classroom resources and building renovations. The money comes from Telecom customers who nominate a school to receive a percentage of their toll bills.
