Safety help for motor trade
A new Occupational Safety and Health package for Motor Trade Association (MTA) members has been developed to ensure safer workplaces for the MTA's 5000 members, their staff and customers. MTA president John Gibson said the package includes a practical manual giving guidance on how to manage important health and safety issues. "We found that some MTA members were uncertain about how to comply with the Act, and that they were concerned about the cost, time and training required to achieve full compliance. "It essentially allays our members' eoncerns and takes the hassle out of complying with the legislation." Mr Gibson said in addition to developing the package, the MTA has built in ongoing, practical support. "All our representatives have been fully trained in the manual' s requirements and will help members implement the package. They will also play a critical role in ensuring health and safety standards are maintained through regular work place audits," he said.
