Ski radio to stay for summer Ruapehu's winter radio station is putting shorts on and staying for the summer. Ski FM manager John Campbell said the time was right to try broadcasting year-round, taking advantage of a frequency they have that covers Taupo. He said a feasibility study was done 10-12 years ago, soon after Ski FM started, that showed the idea was workable, but that it was before the industry was deregulated, meaning there was a "huge rigmarole" to go through to make it happen. "There are a lot of good reasons for us to open all year round, cpvering the Central Plateau," said Mr Campbell. He said there was no other station that covered the whole area, that others were split between here and Taihape, or just Taumarunui, or just Taupo. 'The time to try it is now," he said.
