Vulcanologists published

Penguin Books have added their publication, titled "Eruption!" , to the plethora of printed material on the 1995-96 Ruapehu volcanic activity. Eruption! was published to coincide with the first anniversary of the major week of eruptions in September 1 995. It is a combination of photographs and text tracing the volcanic activity and consequences both on the mountain and in surrounding regions. The book is written by three authors at the forefront of vulcanology in this country. Bruce Houghton and David

Johnston are members of the team from the T aupo volcano observatory of the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences which is formally responsible for monitoring the volcano and setting alert levels. Vince Neall leads a team from Massey University studying lahars and the effects of ashfall on farming.
