RDC management review process considered Friday
Three firms will be invited to carry out the review of the management structure of the Ruapehu District Council, if a recommendation on the matter is accepted by the council this Friday. Draft specifications for the review forms part of the agenda item, which follows the council' s decision in June to allocate $30,000 for an external
review of management systems and processes. "The review has been prompted not by any particular concems on these issues but rather by the view that the Council has been established since 1989 and it is now considered appropriate to conduct an external audit of these issues for the purpose of reassurance and if appropriate to gain an insight into which changes may be appropri-
ate," states the specification. The aim of the review would be to find out if: • The existing structure is appropriate to the functions of the council, complies with legislative requirements and maximises utilisation of the available staff resource. • The existing staffing level is appropriate for the range of functions undertaken.
• Remuneration and employment contract conditions are appropriate and in conformance with the council' s obligations as a good employer. • The costs of the structure compare favourably with other councils considering comparative configuration. The council hopes that the review will be completed by 31 January.
